Did you know...
· That I have all the papers from the judge, the court and the Cafcass officers that show that everything here is the truth
· That I spent 4 years in and out of court and spent thousands of pounds on legal fees just to keep in contact with you
· That I never hurt your mum and the only thing I ever did wrong was to leave her for reasons which I will explain when I see you
· That the court papers your mum has shown you are her side of the story. It doesn’t mean it is the truth
· That I lost my house, all my savings and paid most of my monthly wages to your mum. I was left with all the loans and debts and had to pay your mum’s and my legal fees
· That I moved away from London because I couldn’t afford to live there anymore and now have a house on the coast near the beach
· That your mum wrote to the Child Support Agency when you moved and said that she didn’t want any money from me anymore
· That I don’t spend all my time in the pub getting drunk. I can’t drink a lot anyway because of my diabetes and my work
· I don’t have lots of girlfriends and I never had another girlfriend when I was with your mum
· That I don’t massage naked ladies for a living, I treat people with sports injuries. I’m also a registered child minder which means that I look after other people’s children part time
· That I would never hurt you or abduct you. I have never followed you and didn’t try and find out your mum’s new address. I have no need to know which house you live in, only that you are safe and well
· That I sent lots of cards, present and letters to you when I couldn’t see you and your mum never gave them to you
· That I receive letters from your mum telling me how you are doing because the judge said she had to write to me four times a year
· That I went to your new school when you moved and met your teachers and read your school work and I keep in touch to make sure you are alright
· That I drove nearly 700 miles, twice a month for two hours contact in a contact centre. It took me a minimum of 6 hours to get there and 6 hours to get back and everytime I hoped Christopher and Elliott would be there. Why would I have done that if I no longer cared about you?
· That I still put adverts in the local paper every Christmas and on Steven’s birthday but not for Christopher or Elliott because you told the Cafcass officer that you didn’t want me to
· That I had to walk away because your mum refused to take Steven to the contact centre anymore and the judge said he couldn’t do anything to change her mind. The judge told me not to worry because one day you would all know the truth and come back to me, because deep down you know that I’m the same Dad you once knew and loved
